So maybe I'm blind
But I'm only human after all
But I'm only human after all
Erin absolutely one hundred percent did not sign up for this. Today was supposed to be a day of relaxation, of listening to rock music on the lowest volume known to humankind. Oh, but no, of course her parents just had to bring up the local Carnival. The one place that she did not want to be. In their words of encouragement she apparently needed to 'get out more and enjoy herself for once'. How exactly was she supposed to do that when it was so hard to control the feelings lurking just under her skin? This was going to be a disaster- Erin knew it with a intense scowling passion. Somehow unable to escape the reality of coming to this awful place, Erin tagged along behind her father, head down and eyes narrowed at the dark concrete beneath her leather boots. At least Blake hadn't come out unscathed either, he'd been forced into this trip as well.
Walking blindly through the entrance booth, her shoulders already started quivering. It was so deafeningly loud, and immediately it made Erin's hearing ring violently within her highly sensitive eardrums. Flinching away from the intense, abrasive sounds reverberating their way through her skull like a bowling ball of pain, Erin tried desperately to calm a rapidly rising heartbeat. Already the teenager's hot skin was covered with a slick sheen of anxiety driven sweat. Teeth gritting harsh enough to hurt, Erin angrily shoved her hands into the safety of her jean pockets. The smells that wafted through the park made Erin cringe and swallow down the urge to vomit. Popcorn, candy, sweat, and god knows what else singed her nostrils.
Breathing out a shaky, irritated breath she tried to ignore everything that was going on. Why couldn't this just be a fun experience like years prior? Why did it have to be so difficult to just focus and not lash out. At least her parents were still here, guiding her around the place. However upon looking up to confirm this fleeting thought, a thick ball of dread plummeted directly into Erin's empty stomach. Great, just great, she'd managed to fucking loose her family in the massive crowd because of course she wasn't paying any attention. Staying frozen still, her once slightly anxious heartbeat sped up a bit out of panic. At least until she let out a bitter, strained laugh. Fuck, this Carnival really couldn't get any worse could it?
Stamping down the urge to continue wandering around aimlessly, Erin turned in place before lifting her limbs and shoved violently through the hordes of people, not really caring how many disgruntled yells of anger followed this action. Struggling to breath without becoming nauseous from it, Erin finally made it to the dimly lit sidelines. Stumbling near into the dark alley between two game booths, Erin finally and shakily, let her back fall against one of the cold dark walls. She could do this, she could do this.
Breathing in and out slowly, Erin simply tried to not lose it, not here.

Notes: Anyone can jump in, you could be someone that Erin shoved in the crowd, or simply notice that she practically bolted into a dark alley (bit creepy to notice that one but hey, haha)
