Edward Anthony Cullen Icarus is flying too close to the sun general info
personality Edward is usually described as brooding and stubborn, but also very kind and compassionate. Others may also describe him as charming, polite, and determined. He easily dazzles human females with his beauty, scent and body, and persuades them to do his bidding; just like any other vampire. When Edward first met Bella, she was a fragile human whom he always had to be careful around. He always put her safety, humanity and welfare before anything else, and went to great lengths to protect her from what he sees as danger. He often over analyzes situations and has a tendency to overreact, especially in situations where Bella's safety is potentially at risk. Despite the fact that she is now just as strong and able as him, he still has a tendency to let his overprotective instinct towards her take over. Edward is also a bit of a romantic at heart. He retains some of the traditional mindset and outdated speech from his human life in the early 20th century. Edward puts his free time to great use. Since vampires do not sleep, he employs the night hours reading books and studying languages, science, business and music. Edward loves music! He plays variety of instruments including the piano and also sings. He has an extensive vinyl and CD collection; including classical, jazz, progressive metal, alternative rock and punk rock. However, he despises country music. He likes music from the fifties better than the sixties, and dislikes the seventies entirely and thinks that the eighties were "just bearable". He has also written a number of pieces of music all inspired by people whom he knows; including his now wife, Bella and also his adoptive mom, Esme. Edward also enjoys collecting cars and other vehicles; his main cars though are his silver Volvo S60R and a silver Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. Esme describes him as a gentleman; although Edward appears convinced of his own soulless status. Before finding Bella, Edward was extremely pessimistic. He always thought of himself as an abomination of nature, not deserving happiness. However, since finding his wife, his outlook on himself has changed, he has gradually accepted that he can be happy and be a good person. To him, Bella's happiness is everything; furthermore, he was/is the one who gave her that through their marriage and the birth of their daughter Renesmee. Edward has a special ability; he is able to read the thoughts of anyone in close proximity to him; with the exception of his wife Bella. Although she is now able to show him her thoughts if she wishes as she can now control the shield that blocks him out. It is unknown why he has this talent though he and Carlisle have theorized that he was attuned to peoples thoughts before he was turned, therefore its just an enhanced version of that talent. Edward is the fastest vampire in the Cullen family. He is also a skilled fighter in the Cullen coven, though for his speed rather than being the strongest. As a vampire, he has sharp senses, superhuman strength, speed, endurance, healing factor, and agility. He describes himself as the most dangerous predator in the world whereas his appearance, scent and voice are enormously attractive to his prey. BIOGRAPHY Edward Anthony Masen was born on June 20, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois; the only child of Edward and Elizabeth Masen. He was the apple of his mothers eye. Edward excelled at his studies and became an accomplished pianist. As he gew, Edward became facinated with the life of a soldier. WW1 lasted throughout most of his teen years, and Edward dreamed of joining the army as soon as he turned 18. That changed, however, when he and his parents became sick with the Spanish Influenza in 1918. His father died in the first wave of the influenza. Edward and his mother later contracted the Spanish Influenza. She begged the doctor who was taking care of them, Carlisle, to do everything within his power to save her son. Carlisle agreed. Shortly after Elizabeth died, Carlisle took Edward from the hospital, back to his house, where he bit him and began the transformation. Edward formed a deep bond with Carlisle, he became a father figure to him, gaining trust and love the way any father/son relationship did. It was Carlisle who first realized Edward's telepathic abilities; he noticed that Edward answed questions that he had not asked aloud. Edward had always had a knack for reading people; after his transformation, this ability blossomed into a true gift. In 1921, Edward gained a mother when Carlisle changed Esme into a vampire saving her life after a suicide attempt. Edward did have a rebellious period at the beginning of his vampire life and left Carlisle and Esme in 1927. During his lone time, he used his mind reading ability to attack the worst people of society, thinking that, as long as he was serving justice, it would not matter that he was feeding on humans. A few years later, he regretted this decision and actions and returned to Carlisle and Esme. He accepted and returned to their diet of animal blood. In 1933, Carlisle changed Rosalie Hale into a vampire after finding her left for dead by her fiancé and his friends rape and abuse. Carlisle and Esme were concerned that Edward was alone and wanted him to have what they had found in each other. This was partly what prompted Carlisle to change Rosalie, hoping that she would make Edward happy. However, as beautiful as Rosalie was, Edward could not stand her shallow and self-absorbed mind, and the two became nothing more than siblings, and weren't always on good terms. in 1935, Emmett Cullen joined the family, becoming Edward's brother in law when Rosalie found him near death from a bear attack and fell in love with him. Already vampires, Jasper and Alice sought out and found the Cullens in 1950, and adopted themselves into the family after both escaping their tragic pasts. The moment they arrived, Alice moved into Edward's room, much to his dismay. When the Cullen family were living in Alaska, they found the Denali coven; the only other group that they had come across over the years that shared their diet of animal blood. The leader Tanya showed affection toward Edward, but he did not share that interest. He saw her as nothing more than an extended family member. By 2005, he had attended several colleges and universities, earned two medical degrees and studied several subjects. He has never pursued a career however in the medical field. With his natural parents both passed away, he inherited the Mason house in Chicago, and about every 50 years, he would inherit his family fortune from himself, pretending to be a new heir. When Bella Swan moved to town, Edward at first felt frustrated by his inability to read her thoughts and is forced to listen to everyone else's thoughts about her to find out what he could. He felt very protective of her, especially when he realises that all of the boys in town like her; he desperately tried to to rationalize his feelings of lust over her overwhelmingly attractive scent. When she was forced to sit next to him in Biology and he smelt her blood, he wanted to kill her, and thinks about massacring the whole class as well in order to get his way. He tried to switch classes, however after no luck he left the school and headed to Denali to avoid causing disappointment to his parents, in particular Carlisle. A week later, he returned after some persuasion from Tanya, with his family being extremely protective of him, watching for any signs of danger. Not wanting to leave a bad memory to Bella, he introduced himself to her, and was fascinated by her blood and by the fact that he couldn’t read her mind, and because of that, he wasn’t quick to dismiss her like he would of any other human. She answersed all of his questions in different ways than he thought she would, mostly because he could read her thoughts. He saved her from being crushed by Tyler’s van, and then refused to speak to her for a long period of time. But after all the time not speaking to her, the other boys, Mike Newton in particular, thought that nothing was going on between the two and decided to make a move on her. As Edward watched them he realized that he was starting to feel jealous of them, but decided to dismiss it. However, after sneaking into her room at night several times to watch her sleep, she said his name and he realized that he had fallen in love with her. Over the next few weeks, he started to pursue her and after one night together in Port Angeles, he discovered that she knew he was a vampire and that she had fallen in love with him too. The two then formed a deep emotional relationship. After a while, Edward invited Bella over to his house to meet his family, who, except for Rosalie, immediately took a great liking to Bella. Alice, Edward's sister, invited them both to play baseball with them. Edward took Bella to the field, but some unexpected guests showed up: James, Laurent, and Victoria who were nomadic vampires. James caughtt her scent and decides to hunt Bella for sport, as tracking was his obsession. After some thoughts from Bella, Alice, and Emmett, Edward allowed them to try to use Bella's plan: Bella convinced Charlie that she is leaving town, and Alice and Jasper took her to hide in Phoenix. Edward tried to lead James away, but lost his trail. He then flew to Phoenix to see Bella and finds that she had been tricked by James and as a result has been bitten by him. Edward first thought she was dead and went crazy with pain and guilt. The rest of the Cullen’s arrived and destroy James, while Edward sucked the venom out of Bella's system to prevent her from turning into a vampire, though it took a high level of willpower to keep him from killing her. At the hospital, he tried to talk Bella into moving to Florida to live with her mother in order to protect her from his world, but she talked him out of the idea. After they returned to Forks, Edward took Bella to their prom, much to her dismay. He resolved that he isn't going to change her into a vampire, but she was adamant that the discussion isn't over. Alice was insistent that she threw a birthday party for Bella. During her birthday party Bella accidentally got a paper cut while unwrapping a present, Jasper – being the newest vegetarian vampire, attacked her, although members of the Cullen family were able to hold him back while Edward knocked Bella behind him in an attempt to protect her from Jasper. Bella fell through a glass table, receiving an arm laceration, which forced Emmett, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, a worried Edward and an apologetic Esme to leave the room. In a misguided attempt to protect Bella, he convinced her that he did not want her anymore and abandoned her in the forest. He moved away with his family, leaving her heartbroken and depressed, as if her life as she knew it ceased to exist. Although Edward lived as a vampire without romantic love for nearly a century before meeting Bella, he found it difficult to live without her, becoming severely depressed at the prospect of an infinitely long and meaningless life. To keep his mind occupied, he left his family up North and tried to hunt Victoria, but lost her trail in somewhere in South America. After he mistakenly learnt from Rosalie that Bella has committed suicide based on a vision Alice had of Bella cliff diving - Edward became completely broken and attempted to convince the Volturi to kill him. But Aro refused as he found his power useful to their collection. In order to provoke them into killing him, Edward decided to expose himself by appearing under sunlight during the St. Marcus Festival. Alice had a vision of his death, and she and Bella were able to rush to Italy to stop him before he fulfilled his plans. Bella was then forced to meet with the Volturi, and Edward and Alice found out that she is immune to other vampires' powers as well as his. Though Aro was intrigued with Bella's immunity, they thought of her as a liability that must be disposed of, until Alice showed them a vision she previously had of Bella becoming one of them in the future. They were all granted permission to leave Volterra peacefully. After they return from Italy, Edward explained why he left and apologized to Bella. She forgave him entirely, and they continued on with their relationship as if Edward had never left, with him promising never to leave her ever again. His family also moved back to Forks to continue the way things were before they left. The fear for Bella's humanity while they are together is untenable, Bella successfully sort the support of Edward's family for the idea of turning her into a vampire. Edward was furious at the thought of Bella losing her humanity in order to be with him, but later agreed to change her himself if she agreed to marry him first. Bella, traumatized by her parents' divorced, argued against this. Sometime later, Jacob Black, a Quileute werewolf and friend of Bella who helped her while Edward was gone, confronted them. Edward thanked Jacob for protecting Bella while he was gone, and asked if there was anything he could do to repay him. Jacob stated that he wanted Edward and the Cullen’s to leave and never return, but Edward said that demand was only in Bella's power. Jacob also reminded Edward (though he hadn’t forgotten) about the treaty, saying that it would have be broken if he bit Bella. This sparksed anger from Bella, protesting that it was none of his business and that it was her choice. Her fury was interrupted by Charlie, who demanded that Bella comes inside after Jacob turned in her secret motorcycle in attempt to keep her away from Edward. Edward was reluctant to change Bella into a vampire because he believed that vampires are soulless creatures who have no place in heaven. Bella, whose opinion of marriage is jaded by the early divorce of her own parents, agreed to marry Edward on the condition he would make love with her while she was still human and then change her into a vampire. He initially refused, saying that he could easily lose control in the heat of the moment. However, seeing how important it was to Bella, he agreed to try and make love with her while she was still human, but only after they were married. At first, Edward completely despised of the idea of having Jacob Black or the wolves near Bella and did everything he could to prevent their encounter, he even bought Alice a yellow Porsche in exchange for a slumber party with Bella while he went on a weekend hunting trip. Eventually, he realized how much he is forcing Bella based on his privilege on the wolves and agreed to tolerate her visits on a few conditions. He also leart from Bella that the Quileutes only turned into werewolves when they cross paths with vampires, allowing him to realize that they aren't really werewolves, but shapeshifters with the power to transform into wolves. Jacob Black declared his feelings for Bella and forcibly kissed her, trying to convince her to leave Edward for him. Bella and Edward were both furious at Jacob for this, and Edward vowed to break Jacob's jaw if he ever kissed Bella without her consent again. Victoria had created an army of newborn vampires to hunt Bella for revenge of James. To combat this threat, the Cullens called on the Denali Coven for help, but the Denalis abandoned them when the Cullens refused to let them avenge Laurent's death. It is apparent that Irina was in love with him during a brief stay with her coven. Without any other options, an alliance was made between the Cullens and the Quileutes. However, before the battle started, Jacob overheared Edward and Bella's marriage plans, and threatened to get himself killed because Bella did not want to leave Edward for him. Bella agreed to kiss Jacob if he stayed and while doing so, she realized that she was also in love with him, despite her engagement to Edward. Edward surprisingly accepted this, saying that no matter who Bella chose he'd be happy as long as she is. Bella realized that she loves Edward more than Jacob, and chooses him. Edward managed to kill Victoria while The Cullens and the Quileute werewolves, meanwhile, destroy her newborn army. After the battle, Bella visited Jacob and told him that she has chosen Edward over him. Edward spent the night holding Bella as she cried over pushing Jacob away. After she calmed down, Edward asked Bella if she is sure that choosing him was the right decision, since he had never seen her in such pain. Bella, who had been in worse pain when Edward left her, assured him that she could live without Jacob, but not him. After hiring Alice to plan out their wedding, Edward told Bella that they can make love before they get married, as he realized that she spent too much of her life trying to please other people. However, she refused his offer and says that she would do everything the right way: marriage, making love, and then becoming a vampire. They then informed Charlie of their engagement. Edward later secretly sent Jacob an invitation to his and Bella's wedding, thinking that Jacob deserved the choice to come or not. Edward married Bella in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their friends and families. There was, however, a disturbance: Jacob's unexpected arrival, who eventually became violent towards Bella when he found out that Edward was going to make love to her before turning her, as he fears that Edward would kill her. Edward and Bella spent their honeymoon on Isle Esme, a small island presented to Esme by Carlisle. They consummated their marriage, but Edward's passionate lovemaking sparked a fight between the newlywed couple: Edward was horrified that he had bruised and battered his new wife, but she insisted that she is fine and wanted Edward to make love to her again. He vowed not to do so again while she was still human, but eventually he gave in and is glad to know that he had managed to avoid bruising Bella again. They spent their honeymoon hiking in the jungles, diving and keeping themselves occupied with all kinds of games. After a short period of time, Bella became very sick, and realized that she was pregnant when she discovered a box of unused tampons. Bella received a phone call from Alice, and asked to speak to Carlisle. Edward fell into shock when he listened to their conversation. He realized that what was growing inside Bella needed to be killed. Edward rushed Bella off the island to see Carlisle, who confirmed she was expecting his child. Edward feared that the pregnancy would kill her, and, unable to stand the thought, he tried to convince her into having an abortion. However, she felt a bond with her unborn child and insisted on giving birth. Edward didn’tt give up so easily, going as far as to ask Jacob if he would conceive a child with Bella. The baby, however, eventually won Edward over; when old enough, was able to let him hear its thoughts, and he was both shocked and delighted to find out that it already loved the two of them. Bella nearly died giving birth in an emergency c-section, but Edward successfully delivered his baby girl with Jacob's help, whom Bella had named Renesmee. Edward then injected his venom into Bella's heart, thus healing her wounds by turning her into a vampire. During Bella's painful transformation, Jacob went crazy with rage when he thought she was dead. Irrationally blaming Renesmee, he tried to kill her, but ended up imprinting on her instead. During Bella's transformation, Edward sat patiently by her side, waiting for her to recover. He was also relieved by the renewed peace between the wolves and his family, and more importantly, the arrival of their half-human daughter; but was incredibly irritated by Jacob's imprinting on her. When Bella woke from her transformation, Edward took her out on her first hunt so she wouldn’t attack Renesmee. He was impressed by her ability to resist the smell of human blood, but still irritated by his inability to read her mind. They were also given a cottage renovated by Esme as a present for Bella’s 19th Birthday. Edward and Bella were extremely annoyed by Jacob's imprinting on Renesmee, but eventually, they accepted that it was involuntary. By this time, Edward and Jacob appeared to have become friends. Jacob did them a "favor" by telling Charlie about the supernatural world but restrained from telling him about vampires, which allowed the Cullens to stay in Forks for a while longer. Three months later, Irina reported Renesmee to the Volturi as an immortal child, whose creation is forbidden. The Volturi gathered their entire guard against the Cullens. In the month it took for them to arrive, the Cullens turned to all their allies (the La Push werewolves, the Denali Coven, and numerous other vampires) for assistance. When the Volturi finally arrived, the confrontation came close to a fight. Bella's gift became apparent in the fact that she could protect her and others around her from the Volturi's mental attacks. This caused the Volturi to rethink their position. In the end, however, the Volturi were convinced that Renesmee was not a threat, and they left. With the confrontation over, Edward, Bella and Renesmee were free to live their lives, though they suspect it may not be forever. Bella now knows how to remove her shield, allowing Edward to read her mind when she wishes. It allows him to see how much she truly loves him, which brings them even closer each time. | ooc info ☆ NAME Jen ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS None yet ☆ timezone gmt ☆ aNY OTHER INFO? she/her admin |
