You have forsaken
All the love you've taken
Sleepin' on a razor
There's nowhere left to fall
Your body's aching
Every bone is breakin'
Nothin' seems to shake it
It just keeps holdin' on
All the love you've taken
Sleepin' on a razor
There's nowhere left to fall
Your body's aching
Every bone is breakin'
Nothin' seems to shake it
It just keeps holdin' on
It wasn't often Willa found herself wandering through America. Perhaps only once or twice in her nearly five hundred years had she ventured to the once new world. She much preferred her own native soil. But when by chance she did find herself wandering the Americas she usually kept to the norther boarders. The blonde vampire was a creature of habit and took comfort in the woodlands located there, they reminded her of home. In her mortal life the forest had always been a place of solace for her. A safe escape. A place where she was free to do as she wished or even to just simply sit and do nothing but gaze up at the sky through the branches and leaves of the trees. When she was younger she used to pretend the trees were like silent sentinels, her own guardians quietly watching over her and protecting her from harm. A child's fantasy that she had long since grown out of, but the feeling of safety and security still remained whenever she moved through quiet pines.
So it was indeed a strange thing for her to be wandering the streets of Seattle. Large cities were generally something she avoided, no matter which continent she might find herself on. Truthfully she didn't intend to remain here for long however, and would have avoided it all together had the pangs of hunger not finally driven her to seek out prey. Tonight she would hunt, and with the coming of dawn return to her beloved forests.
Her eyes had been black with thirst for days, her hunger steadily growing till the need became too great to ignore. The desire to feed became a constant in the forefront of her mind, her thoughts ever insistent on making a kill. Willa didn't normally go this long without quenching her thirst, but it wasn't an entirely unheard of thing. She was old enough to control herself and her desires. And in this particular case Willa had simply lacked the desire to venture into civilization to curb her appetite. It made her uneasy being surrounded by so many humans, especially in an unfamiliar land. Even as a vampire (and knowing full well they couldn't hurt her any longer) she still felt weary of the living. Some fears it seemed were just impossible to let go no matter how much time passed.
With her reluctance to be in the city Willa was on edge and eager to finish her hunt early. Like a wraith she stalked the darkened streets, the sidewalks lit only by sparsely placed street lamps that cast a round aura of harsh yellow light here and there. Though the hour was late a few brave souls still wandered about in the night. Some dressed richly in business clothes, others showing more skin than could be considered decent in a city still tucked in winter's embrace. There was one woman in particular that held Willa's interest. She was an older woman, perhaps in her early forties. Though she tried to hide her age with cosmetics and expensive clothing. It wasn't her appearance that drew Willa to her however, looks had never mattered to her. For Willa it always came down to the humans scent. This woman smelled clean, a rarity in a world where smoking and other drugs were becoming increasingly more prevalent.
After deciding on her target the blonde followed her from the shadows of rooftops, never once letting the woman out of her sight, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Willa wasn't fond of messy kills, didn't like the way blood stained her skin nor the crusty feeling that remained when it dried. So she waited patiently, waited until the woman lingered a moment too long on an empty street corner to answer a text message. In that split moment that she paused, when her attention was else where, Willa descended. In the fraction of a second she was on the ground, pulling the woman's warm body to her chest in a mockery of an embrace. The human didn't even have the chance to draw in the breath needed to scream before her life was ended. A simple breaking of the neck. The action as familiar as a lover's touch and all to easy to the vampire.
With just as much ease Willa pulled the now limp body closer into the shadows not illuminated by the street lamps. Her lips nuzzled against the woman's still warm throat, and she took a moment to enjoy the feeling of that lingering warmth before her thirst deemed she could wait no longer and she sank her teeth into the dead woman's neck just enough to pierce the vein hidden there. Blood rushed into her mouth almost instantly. The thick warm liquid soothed the burning in her throat and the softest of moans rumbled in Willa's tiny chest. As always the longer she waited to feed the better blood tasted.
