I t was a fresh start, once more it was required there was only a short time after you pretend to reach a certain age than people begin to notice you are not actually aging and that was what happened to Charlotte. Although, the reason she ended up in this place, a quiet place away from the normality of cities she ended up in was because of the stories; the stories that a child born of a human and a vampire and not yet an immortal child – a creature such as she was. It was stories like these that she heard from nomad vampires, ones that didn't know what she was.The answers still eluded her after all this time – what she was an no matter the libraries she visited or the history stores she never found her answers that didn’t point to a demonic creature or something that has no human emotions. She was not a demonic creature and she had feelings; very real and difficult emotions. Charlotte had adapted and after her father had met his demise, it was then she discovered she could eat human food, live among them without looking at them for the next meal. At first it had been strange but it meant that she could blend and hide in the shadows – live almost a normal life. She could almost pretend she was not as much as an abnormality as she had been told. However, it may appear that Charlotte disliked what she was - not was not true she had accepted she was born into a life she could not choose and that she had developed a peace about. The sky was overcast and in fact a very dull, something she was used to and not a surprise as she did not want to expose herself to the humans or any unfriendly creatures that would question what she was. Walking down the streets of Folks, she was getting used to this small place although some of the looks she received was because she was a new… or so she hoped. This was something she had been unsure of, maybe she should have moved to the city close by but that would be something she would assess in due course. “Interesting.” She looked at her reflection in the window of a shop she was passing, it was sometimes difficult to blend but thankful for her human brown eyes and not the monster red she had seen many time, Then she paid attention to the store, it was an old store full of old items – maybe there would be one that would remind her of her past. A slight smile appeared upon her lips as she entered the shop and begun to look around, her eyes were drawn to a painting – one of a landscape – she assumed early 1900’s. "Very beautiful, such amazing condition." She muttered to herself. |
