so much history in my head, the people i've left, the ones that i've kept
| It was only suiting for small cities to be surrounded by small towns. Tudor was, currently, making it his mission to explore all of it. It made sense to familiarize himself with his surroundings, even if he were introducing himself as someone who'd just recently moved here. If there was one thing he hated, it was being held in the dark, and not knowing where he was in a new state was just about the same thing. So the next place to stop had been the nearby Port Angeles, not far from the town of Forks he'd just visited.
He'd already popped by the small selection of shops, mostly touristy places, including a bookstore featuring the culture of the Native American reservation that was nearby too. La Push, which he had yet to visit. He'd been on reservations before though, and couldn't imagine this one would be much different from ones in North Dakota and Minnesota and the like.
The harbor was quiet today, it was a Monday morning, and school had a day off, so Tudor was set to start the following day.. if he was still feeling like he should try to push to be a high schooler once more. It had taken a special kind of skill the last time he'd done it, and he wasn't sure if he had the patience to do it again. He blew out a long breath, drinking in the scents of the sea, as he leaned casually against the handrail. He was carefully not to leave dents with his fingers, his control over his strength still not his strong suit after such a long time.
It was normal for Tudor to hear heartbeats accompanied by footsteps, and by now he was used to it, practically tuned them out when he could be distracted by something else. But he paused, turning his head and tensing automatically as he heard only footsteps - without a heartbeat attached to them. In his tension, he could feel the handrail he still gripped beginning to bend with the grip of his fingers.
But then he was pretty sure he recognized that head of mussed bronze hair. "Cullen?" he said, not bothering to raise his voice, knowing the other vampire would be able to hear it anyway. He relaxed as he verified with his own eyes it was indeed Edward Cullen; his same lean form, the boyish curves of his face unchanged from how they'd appeared years and years ago. |

| T he Cullen's were familiar with Forks and the towns and cities that were close by. This wasn't the time they had settled here and it probably wouldn't be the last; not now it held such a special place in his and Bella's heart. They liked it here in general anyway. The weather suited them, they were able to participate in almost normal lives with minimal disruption from the sun thanks to the almost constant cover from the clouds. Carlisle was able to work in the hospital and the "children" has been able to attend school for two years, only missing the odd days. They'd used the excuse that when the weather was nice, Carlisle and Esme insisted on family camping and hiking trips for family bonding. Much to their surprise, most of the humans has bought it with now questions asked. The only place that they didn't set foot in, was La Push. The last time Edward has been in Forks, Carlisle had created a treaty with the Quiluetes; an agreement that they would stay away from La Push and they would not bite a human in the surrounding areas. At the time, it had been an easy agreement to make and keep too. They diidn't feed on humans anyway, keeping a diet of animal blood. But upon meeting Bella, it certainly made things trickier. Especially the whole not stepping a foot into La Push when she insisted in going there all the time where Edward couldn't protect her. It also hadn't gone down exactly well when Bella had made her intentions clear to Jacob that she was to become a vampire. The treaty was well and truly void now though, mainly due to the fact that Jacob had imprinted on Edwards daughter, Renesmee. She spent most of her time at the reservation these days, much to Edwards dismay. Even though they were on civil terms now, didn't mean that the golden eyed vampire was happy about having the dog permanently in his family and potentially dating his daughter in the near future. It was Monday morning, Bella had been dragged to Seattle by Alice; who insisted that she needed a new wardrobe and Remesmee was occupied with the mutt. So Edward found himself sat alone in the small cottage which was hidden in the forest, listening to some smooth jazz. He hated it when his wife was otherwise occupied. It left him at a loose end if one of the other Cullen's hadn't made plans with him. With a huff, he pressed the off button on the stereo, grabs his keys for the silver Volvo and headed back toward the main house's garage. As he got closer, Edward couldn't hear any thoughts or hear any noise which told him that the house was empty. Edward climbed into the vehicle gracefully, and starting the engine, instantly hitting the gas and speeding off down the road and out onto the freeway. He didn't really have a destination in mind, he just needed to be doing something. It wasn't long before he found himself in the familiar sea side town of Port Angeles. One of the last times he had been here was when he had rescued Bella from the group of men who had every intention of hurting her. His fists tightened around the steering wheel at the memory. The leather fighting to hold together under his vampire strength. Spotting a free space along the sea front, he parked up and climbed out. Paying the parking toll, he started walking along the harbour front. It was quiet out today. Probably due to the fact the the sky looked like it was about to burst at any moment. Edward caught the scent of another vampire which was quickly followed by their thoughts as he got closer; questioning whether they wanted to go back to high school. He followed the direction of the scent and thoughts and he soon found an old friend. Tudor Everett. Just like himself, Tudor remained exactly the same as he had been the last time they had seen each other, many years ago. Edwards long strides closed the space between them quickly. "Tudor! How's it going?! What are you doing in this neck of the woods?" |

so much history in my head, the people i've left, the ones that i've kept
| Tudor was usually not in the habit of making friends with vampires. The reason? He wasn't a freaking idiot. He knew the dangers of being a nomadic vampire, whereas most of his kind had a tendency to be drawn into covens. And since Tudor had a tendency to be a bit of a dick, he didn't think it was the best idea to socialize with other vampires, lest he let something offensive slip and suddenly have a coven of ruthless vampires on his heels.
But the Cullens seemed to be different, which was why Tudor had made an exception for Edward Cullen. They were just as.. generally altruistic as he was in their intentions toward humans, which assured him they were little to no threat to his family, his most important priority. Plus, Edward was a pretty decent guy when he wasn't being all dramatic and self-loathing.
"I'm good," he grinned, taking in the other vampire. He was unchanged for the most part, as was to be expected, but he did note some differences. His sharp eyes could hardly ignore them. "Figured it was about time I gave the west coast a chance... I just moved to Seattle a week back," he explained.
His gaze drifted intentionally down the length of Edward's arm, to his long pale fingers. "What's new in the life of Edward Cullen? When did you get hitched?" His golden eyes gleamed, burning with curiosity. He didn't think he'd ever see the day the other vampire would have a wedding band on his finger... from what he could tell, Tudor had noted every other member of his family seemed to have found their mate, while Edward had been woefully alone. It was quite the same with Tudor himself, he'd never found himself a mate, but he didn't really find himself unhappy with that either. He bounced so quickly from one interest to the next he couldn't imagine what it would be like to feel unconditionally attached to someone for eternity. |

| C arlisle’s morals and values of human life had definitely rubbed off on all of the Cullen’s; which had also had seeped through into how they valued others too including nomadic vampires and shifters. Vampires were territorial; the vampire southern wars that Jasper had been involved in were evidence of that. And when a nomadic vampire crossed through a town which was inhabited by another or even a coven, it usually didn’t end well. But in Forks, the Cullen’s tolerated nomads and other vampires visiting; as long as they respected and didn’t harm anyone in the town. Since James and Victoria however, things had been pretty calm. Over the years, the Cullen’s had moved around several states, using various histories to allow them to blend in and mix with humans. Edward had lost count of the amount of times he had had to pretend to be a high school senior; but the younger they pretended to be when they first arrived in a place, the longer they were able to stay in one place. Occasionally after graduating from high school again, some of the Cullen’s chose to actually progress onto university; after all they had an eternity of time and studying was something to pass the time. Edward himself had already gained two medical degrees though unlike Carlisle, he’d never pursued a career in that field – until Bella he had never been able to stand to be that close to fresh human blood and not snap. Which is how he had crossed paths with Tudor Everett. He too was a vampire that abstained from human blood as much as possible. It was something Edward had bonded with him over. ”This neck of the woods seems to be attracting a lot of our kind recently,” he replied, with a nod of his head. Since the whole showdown had occurred with the Volturi, the word had apparently gotten out that this was the best place for vampires to live. ”It’s pretty miserable here weather wise, which is perfect for us! How are you finding Seattle? Different to the south, huh?” Edward lent against the handrail, casually. To any human these pair of males were sure to look like a couple of models. Humans were always quick to notice lack of aging in vampires; especially women with Edward because they all took such a shining to him, but that was because of their obsession with aging. Vampires didn’t age, so coming across an old friend who also hadn’t age wasn’t a shock. Tudor looked exactly the same as he had the first time they had become acquainted many moons ago. Automatically, Edward’s thumb grazed over his wedding ring and he grinned at his friend. It was easy to forget that not everyone knew of his and Bella’s wedding. ”Around a year and a half ago,” he said proudly, memories from that day flashing through his head along with what had followed. He wished he had Renesmee’s ability to show his friend right now. It seemed much more fitting than just telling him. ”If that’s a shock to you, the news that I have a biological daughter is really going to baffle you,” For years, Edward had been the only one in his coven not to have a mate; and while he had loved his family dearly, sometimes he had struggled being around them; especially when he was able to hear their thoughts. Not that he had been jealous of them; it had just been to sickly for him. Tudor had also been unmated, so Edward had found it easy to be around him. ”Still riding solo, as the kids today say?” |
