personality At one point, Seta was the epitome of a Good Boy. Perhaps not quite a Boy Scout, but he listened, he was polite, and hugs were welcomed, not simply tolerated, if not fully avoided. When he was younger, he was sweet, albeit a little shy, but overall a good kid. Unfortunately, it’s the sweet ones that tend to be the most vulnerable. After enduring some bullying that seemed to escalate whenever he tried to tell someone, something in him snapped. Good manners were replaced with poor ones. That sweetness started to give way to something else entirely. Little by little, he broke down his sweet, shy net and instead started building a wall. He turned moody, he talked back, and he started fighting his bullies back. He fell in with new crowds his parents called a bad influence, and his behaviour dissolved into what they now have on their hands. With his friends, Seta is lively. He cracks jokes, he flirts with any girl that comes near him. He’s eager to win friendly competitions, and twice as eager to slide into a nightclub, riding on his fake ID. With girls he can be charming, daring, or even dredge up a tiny sliver of sweetness from somewhere deep down, if it’s going to get him into her pants. Or at least second base. He is wildly protective, both of friends and family. He might like to distance himself from them, yes, but if he ever heard someone talking smack about his parents, or especially his sister, they would be in for a world of hurt. Being impulsive, and even reckless at times, he often doesn’t think twice about jumping into a situation, and though it’s landed him at the hospital a few times, it doesn’t stop him from doing it again and again. His cousin, Alex, is the only person he feels like he can let his guard down around and relax. The kid has been like his brother for his entire life, and while he sometimes gets angry with the world in general, Alex is usually the one to calm him down again, with his sister a close second. Seta has honestly entertained the idea of leaving Seattle to go back to Chicago, because then at least they’d be close again. BIOGRAPHY Family Father: Charles (Charlie) Hawkins, 47 Mother: Adrianna Hawkins nee McKenzie, 45 Siblings: Midori Hawkins, 17 Other: Alexander McKenzie, 18, cousin, but might as well be his brother Details Hair Color: Naturally a dark brown, but is often either bleached to near-white, or dyed black. He has also dabbled in colors, and currently has it an odd combination of black and blue. Eye Color: Brown Any Piercings? Twice in his lobes, and one helix on his left ear. He tends to wear a hoop in the helix and assorted studs in his lobes. Any Tattoos? Tribal-style barbed wire bands around both his upper arms. Any Scars? Many small ones, same from childhood mishaps, and some from scrapping. His most prominent one is a jagged line on his left hand between his index finger and thumb from an incident with a knife. It also has the telltale tracks of stitches around it. General Appearance: Seta likes to make himself look as tough as possible, which is sometimes hard when you get reminded all the damn time that you have a baby face, and will probably always have a goddamn baby face. While it can help in times he needs to look innocent, the rest of the time it’s just annoying. His favorite uniform of choice is typically jeans and a t-shirt, usually paired with a jean or leather jacket, or a hoodie. When he does run around without an outer layer, his twin tattoos on his biceps are quite visible, and he likes that fact. If he’s tinkering in the garage, he’s all about the tank tops and jeans that are so threadbare he’s had to rescue them from the trash at least twice. He doesn’t mind looking like a little grease monkey, and might even take a little bit of pleasure trailing motor oil through the house. If he is absolutely forced to dress up when his parents have company, or dragging their kids to a social event, he can be bribed into clean jeans with no holes and a button up shirt, but it has to be dark, and he refuses to wear a tie. Honestly they’re lucky if the shirt is even halfway buttoned up. His overall build is reasonably slim, and though his arms are toned, they are by no means giant piles of muscle. He’s strong, but not in an obnoxious ‘I can bench press my girlfriend’ kind of way. Being a hair overweight as a young child and dealing with bullies a great deal of that time, by the time he was almost done high school he had worked most of it off. Minus his goddamn baby face. Ugh. His hair in almost always in a state of mess, and his idea of styling it is running his fingers through it like a comb in the morning. He keeps it on the longer side, with the longest he can tolerate being just long enough to pull into a small ponytail. To keep it out of his eyes. That’s all. Though he likes to dye it, this doesn’t mean it’s a point of pride. Rather, it’s fun, and it’s a great way to drive yet another small wedge between him and his family. He relishes the looks he gets when he walks in with yet another color change. He wasn’t always much for jewelry, though he loves his earrings and has a massive, if messy, collection of various studs and hoops to change out. He also likes wearing silver rings, partly for the look, and partly because it really hurts when you punch someone with a ring on. History: Born the first of two children in Chicago, Seta started life in a very good place. His mother stayed home with him, and then his little sister, which made for a reasonably happy childhood. Rather than going to childcare or babysitters, Seta got to do things like playgrounds, or if he was really lucky, a day trip to the zoo. Though he was shy, he found himself with a few close friends, and he was fortunate enough to be in the same classes as them as he started school. He began to open up a little and come into his own throughout elementary school, and by the time he was ready to start middle school, he’d found himself somewhat excited. Unfortunately, the older kids got, the more they seemed to look for targets. And Seta Hawkins was easy pickings. From his unusual name (thanks, Mom and Dad) to his sweet, if still a little shy nature, and the fact he was on the slightly heavier side, he very quickly became a target for some older boys. He didn’t dare tell his parents, simply blaming a bruise here and there on falling in the hall, or on gym activities. The only person he told in the early days was his cousin, who was more brother than anything else to him. Any time he so much as looked as though he was going to tell a teacher, things got worse. He hated being singled out and picked on, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. He wasn’t strong enough to fight back, and even if he did he’d probably just get pummelled that much harder. If the older boys didn’t die laughing first. By his last year in middle school, he’d had enough. He had already been having a terrible day, as his cousin had been diagnosed over the weekend with leukemia. When the boys came up to begin their weekly routine, Seta lashed out with everything he had. Words, fists, anything. As a last ditch effort when those failed, he reached into his pocket and flipped out a pocketknife he’d taken from his father’s office the night before. Threatening a student with a knife, regardless of who started it, was apparently a great way to get suspended from school. It was also a great way to get his bullies to up their game. So he upped his, too. Unfortunately, upping his game also led to his ultimate expulsion from high school. In his first year his grades tanked, his attitude was terrible, and he was openly combative with anyone that gave him a rough time. After being expelled, his parents started looking at options. Ultimately, his father requested a transfer from his office in Chicago to anywhere else. Maybe the change would do their wayward son good. Seta almost had to be bound and gagged just to get him in the car when the transfer went through, sending the family to Seattle. He didn’t want to go to Seattle. He wanted to stay home, near Alex, who had achieved remission, but was still delicate, and Seta didn’t want to leave him. It was Alex who convinced Seta to attend his first day at his new school. It was also Alex that convinced him to graduate, despite Seta’s strong desire not to. Alex was the only person he confided in that he wanted to drop out. He stayed, barely scraped by with enough to graduate, all the while falling in with new friends. Friends that didn’t seem to mind he was a little off the rails. Friends that actually liked the way he was. His parents were just happy he had friends at all. He tries to keep his trouble making to a minimum when it comes to his parents hearing about it. If they knew he rode a miniature high when shoplifting, or how many scraps he actually got into, they’d probably look at moving again. At home he tries hard to pretend that things aren’t so bad in Seattle. That he’s actually making a minimal effort to fit in. But outside those walls? He’s a troublemaker. And he likes it that way. | ooc info ☆ NAME mads ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a at the moment ☆ timezone mst ☆ aNY OTHER INFO? - frantically waves- |
