Italy will always be one of the most beautiful countries in the world to Henry; however, he wasn’t here for the view or the tourist attractions. Throughout his years as a vampire he has yet to come across the Volturi or even become fully educated in what they are all about. Sure, he knew they acted as a sort of government for vampires, a royal coven if you will. Henry was taught by his former travelling companion that they will step in if you get out of hand. They sounded pretty harsh, yet he understood the need for a force such as that having been a loose cannon himself as a newborn. Of course he knew blood was a necessity for vampires to survive, he detached himself from viewing humans as anything else but a source of sustenance. Though this was easier said than done, he still knew that they were more than that and although he tried to block it out he couldn’t keep guilt from creeping up on him. Guilt certainly overtook him when he reflected back to his days as a mass murderer, and if it wasn’t for his now deceased friend, he would probably have been killed by the Volturi a long time ago. Although quite anxious about his visit to Volterra, Italy, the very place the Volturi called their home, he was sure that he would find better information here than any other place on Earth. For most of his vampire life he has been chasing after his older brother, he always came close but never caught up with him and was now informed that his brother might be in Forks. Although he didn’t know much about Forks he knew enough to know that the coven living there and the Volturi do not exactly get along. He felt it was best to know what the situation truly was and if going there was anywhere near a good idea. As he walked down the streets of Volterra he glanced up at the moon. It was already quite late and most of the people were already asleep and therefore it was relatively quiet. He neared a bar that had a few people inside and despite his need for blood being quite high he didn’t want to start something that could potentially draw the wrong sort of attention. He decided to take a pass and turned down the alley to dodge the light that streamed out from the pub and planned to go and keep himself occupied somewhere else. However, there was quite a lot of movement near the end of the alley and although it was only silhouettes he could clearly see it wasn’t just some couple making bad decisions. He moved closer and saw a scene very familiar to him. Another vampire was feeding and on a teenage girl that most likely was in with the wrong crowd which got her to the bar which got her into this situation. ”Hey! I think you had enough.” he interrupted, noticing the girl had little to no fight left. Although he drained the life out of many before, he haven’t killed an adolescent in years. In some way he figured if he resisted from killing people with years and years ahead of them then maybe he wouldn’t feel so guilty. The other vampire stopped, looked up and chuckled “Are you serious?” he asked rhetorically and threw the girl down onto the dirty concrete floor. “Now just because you ‘asked’ so nicely,” he wiped his lips clean with his sleeve and stepped in front of the girl who was barely breathing “I’ll stop, I had enough anyway,” he smirked, his eyes shifting to the girl “...so I’ll just enjoy watching her bleed out, we vampires do need a little bit of entertainment every now and then.” It was as if something snapped in Henry, he probably didn’t even care as much for the girl as he believed and probably just felt the bottled up anger flooding out. In what would seem like a blur to normal people he had the vampire pinned up against the wall, his eyes gone savage and he spoke through his teeth “What is wrong with you-“ but the vampire interrupted by laughing “Ohhhh, I’m going to end you...” he spoke with a smirk following and before Henry knew it he was in a position where the vampire could easily rip his head off. Henry had found himself in this potions before and easily escaped it every time, however, this vampire was unusually strong “You’re-you’re a newborn.” He managed to get out as he struggled against the grip of the newly turned vampire. For a second he believed that this was the end, and although he didn’t particularly see the world as a better place with him in it, he didn’t want to go out like this. |
