| B ella glanced outside, the sun was beaming down on the town of Forks, which meant staying out of the public eye was necessary. Renesmee was lucky on days like this - she didn’t have to hide away. Bella sighed and smiled, at least her daughter wouldn’t miss out on key experiences just because of some sunshine in this normally grey, rainy town. Renesmee had more of a subtle glow about her - it radiated, making people more drawn to her than afraid of her. She let her thoughts of her daughter run away with her, the Cullen family was complete with Nessie in their lives. A new person, who grew and changed, to dote upon. She had been so afraid when the threat of the Volturi had hung over them, but that threat was gone…at least for now. She felt the subtle warmth radiating from her throat, she hadn’t hunted in a couple of weeks and definitely needed to. Around the time of the carnival, Bella had kept to her feeding habits strictly, she hadn’t wanted to slip up with so many humans around. Of course, she’d coped…but it had been a huge uphill struggle and although outwardly she’d appeared fine, inside she’d been screaming. She checked her cell, Edward had gone off with his brothers somewhere - probably helping Emmett with the jeep or something - and Nessie had been taken off by Alice for a shopping spree. She’d grown out of clothes so quickly, and Alice was always keen to take her shopping. Not that Bella minded, fashion had not been and still wasn’t a friend of hers. It would be hours before either of them got back, and she really was quite thirsty. Shrugging, she headed out the door and into the depths of the forest. Sniffing the air, Bella ensured she steer clear of any humans - heading as far away from the main trail as possible. It was not worth the risk, she was still young in the grand scheme of things and - when hunting alone - didn’t fully trust herself to stop mid-hunt as she had done numerous times before. It wasn’t long before the whiff of a mountain lion caught her attention. She focused on her prey, slowing her pace and silently approaching its position. The mountain lion was still, also mid-hunt itself, best opportunity to catch it off guard, keeping it in her sights - Bella pounced from behind. Her arms wrapped tightly around its torso, holding it in place, as her teeth sunk into its neck. … Feeling somewhat better, Bella wiped her mouth clean and stood, lying the animal gently on the ground. Carnivores definitely tasted better than herbivores, that was for sure. Although her thirst wasn’t entirely taken care of, Bella knew it never would be. That was the price for feeding mainly on animal blood. It kept you strong, and kept the thirst at bay but she would never feel completely satisfied. It was a small sacrifice, she felt, to be able to keep the people she cared about in her life. Bella turned to head back to the cottage, but as she did she heard someone approaching…and they weren't human. |

so much history in my head, the people i've left, the ones that i've kept
| Tudor wondered what it was like not having a moral compass. So many of his kind were completely happy feeding on and thus killing human beings, he couldn't help but think they must've lost something in the transformation process. More than what physically made them human, but mentally as well. He still had guilt over innocent people he'd killed hundreds of years ago when he was just a newborn vampire. Why was hunting animals such an abhorrent alternative for them?
Tudor always thought about that, and then he always remembered why the moment he bit into the neck of an animal. This time it was a buck, and it probably would've torn his shirt to bits with its antlers had he not killed it the moment he approached it with a quick snap to its neck. And its blood tasted... unpleasant. He always had to force it down his throat, each swallow worse than the last, but it did mercifully soothe the burn in his throat, and he knew that within an hour his eyes would return to the gold color they ought to be.
Discarding the deer when he'd finished and trying not to make a face after the taste, Tudor licked his lips clean and leaned against a tree for a moment, tasting the air hopefully for the scent of something more on the carnivore side... Venom flooded his mouth as he suddenly caught scent of something - feral and heady, so much better than the deer he'd just brought down - and in a second he was off. Running had always been a great pleasure, he loved not having to hold back as he was used to everyday, in order to blend in as a human. The breeze toyed with his curls as he came to an abrupt halt, bracing himself against a tree which groaned violently as it took a dent in its trunk as a result.
He could smell another vampire, very close, So close in fact, that he was pretty sure they'd taken the meal he'd been so excited to have. Clicking his tongue in slight annoyance, Tudor decided to check it out. He was usually averse to the company of other vampires because most of them were red-eyed with a concerning lack of morality.
But as he stepped around the copse of trees so the vampire in the clearing could come into view, her finished mountain lion lying limp behind her, he noticed with a jolt she didn't have red eyes. They were gold like his, or getting there at least. He spared only a moment to reveal his true emotions, a frown and a curious cock of his head, before he opened his mouth to speak, a smirk already curving his lips.
"You stole my meal." |

| B ella locked eyes with the vampire in front of her as he appeared from deep within the trees. She focused on his features - his eyes most importantly. They were golden, like hers. She didn’t relax at all, it didn’t matter that they hunted the same, Bella knew all too well never to let her guard down around a strange vampire. And this guy, was definitely someone she’d never met. She glanced down at the dead mountain lion next to her, it’s lifeless body limp. “Your meal?” Bella hadn’t been aware of anyone else hunting, finders keepers and all that jazz. She looked back up at him, “you snooze you lose, what were you doing that made you so late to the party?” Not that it was wise to antagonise a vampire - but from the golden hue of his eyes, he wasn’t hungry. She caught a whiff of some kind of herbivore, a deer maybe? So he had fed already…just looking for seconds. What a greedy little vamp, Bella only really hunted in a needs must kinda way - having spent a couple of days surrounded by humans at the carnival had made today a ‘needs must’ day. She didn’t want Edward worrying any more than he already did. Bella being around humans always made the entire Cullen family nervous - it was like they were waiting for her to snap at some point. Taking a step forward, Bella narrowed her eyes slightly, “I’ve never seen you here before…who are you?” She was careful, not wanting to offend this visitor - he might be a distant friend of Carlisle, though he’d not been there when they called for witnesses when the Volturi had come to destroy them. Her eyes drank in the rest of her surroundings, she didn’t know if he was alone, there weren’t any other scents on the breeze which made her think he was. Her eyebrow raised at him slightly, “you only feed on animals…or..?” Sure he had the same eyes, that didn’t make him entirely friendly. Vampires weren’t always to be trusted. |

so much history in my head, the people i've left, the ones that i've kept
| The lion looked like it had been good. He hoped it had been good, only then could he feel less (teasingly) bitter about the fact she'd gotten to it before he had. It was nothing compared to human blood, but so much better than a deer or - god forbid - some rodent forest creature. "My seconds," he amended. It wasn't that he was feeling particularly greedy today, but any animal-eating vampire that caught scent of a lion over the usual deer would want to hunt for it, whether they were hungry or not. It was far more of a delicacy.
He snorted at the other vampire's sass. She had a tongue on her but he had a habit of liking people like that, and sort of gravitated toward them. That was possibly why he loved his family so much. Maybe it was because they'd lived most of their lives around him, but he was seriously a fan of witnessing them ripping people to shreds with just their words. This girl didn't seem unfriendly though. "I might've been distracted sipping on Bambi blood."
Noting her small step forward, Tudor's muscles automatically hardened, his whole body tensing even though he was fairly certain she meant no harm. He couldn't help it, he'd met so many vampires that were nothing like him in the past, that were willing to hurt anyone that stood in their destructive ways... it made him automatically wary of any new vampire he met, even if he tried not to come off that way. Despite the fact he was one, any vampire was a threat to his family, and he wouldn't have that.
"I just moved here. To Seattle," he offered an explanation to placate her. "Worry not, I'm not here to steal your territory or... whatever." He wasn't totally sure how covens worked, given the fact he avoided them at all costs. It was just common sense to avoid entire groups of potentially murderous vampires when your family consisted of very mortal humans. "My name is Tudor, Tudor Everett... and you are?" No part of her was familiar, which was no surprise to him. He'd met very few golden-eyed vampires in his lifetime, and she seemed to be thinking the same.
"Mostly animal blood, yes," he said enigmatically, eyes dancing. He was well aware of what that might sound like, so he added, "I don't hurt people. I haven't in a long, long time." That, he could be honest about. He had an uncanny control over his bloodlust, and it enabled him to go as far as attaining medical degrees and working as a real doctor, able to perform surgeries, treat accidents, whatever. "If you're like me, then you and I have nothing to worry about," he said, attempting a light tone, but her wariness was still making him tense. |

| F eeling somewhat on edge by this new vampire in front of her, Bella shifted her weight slightly. She looked down at the lifeless body of the lion she’d fed from, at least it hadn’t been a human. She’d never even tried human blood so she had no idea what she was really missing out on, this satisfied her enough. “Early bird catches the worm, or lion in this instance,” she shrugged. He had apparently already fed, so what was it to her? She beat him to the punch a felt a slight win over it. Raising her eyebrow slightly at the strangers snort, Bella held back. She didn’t like being laughed at, especially by someone she didn’t know. She felt her shield contracting as she tensed, she’d never been alone with a strange vampire. Edward had always been by her side. Wary of him, she watched him carefully. He didn’t appear to be a threat…but as Edward had once pointed out, you could never trust a vampire. “Bambi was more than enough I’m sure, stop being so greedy.” It seems like he’d been hunting just for the sake of it - Bella was the opposite. Hunting only when she needed to. Observing his stance, she registered the fact he’d tensed up with her small movement. So he was just as wary of her as she was of him. That was normal, something deeply rooted in their nature. She put her hands up as a gesture of peace - she wasn’t here to fight. Especially not so close to her home, that would be a silly idea. Tuning in to her surroundings, Bella listened out for any others in the area. He seemed to be alone, or at least if he was with someone - they weren’t close by. Nodding, Bella felt a little more at ease. Seattle meant he wasn’t in Forks for more than a visit, the pack would have a field day if he was. “That’s fine, we aren’t exactly territorial - we just try and live in peace here with the humans, so keeping inconspicuous is key,” they’d managed to keep the secret, well…secret. Anyone that threatened that was considered enemy. “Bella, Bella Cullen…” She steadied herself, letting her defensive feeling settle a little. At least she knew a name - if anything were to happen the Cullen’s could track him down. “I survive only on animal blood,” Bella frowned, “I haven’t bitten a human…touch wood.” She tapped the tree next to her for luck, human habit. Her control had been put to the test time and time again, so one day she might snap. But deep down she hoped it never would. “As long as you keep it that way, this town is quick to pick up on people going missing…” she thought back to when Victoria, James and Laurent had come into town. She shuddered, that wasn’t exactly fun. Feeling herself relax, Bella took another couple of steps toward him, “what brings you here anyway? Aside from hunt…” She was curious, it was a small town with not much else to do. |
