personality Ellie's first impressions tend to be underwhelming and do not typically reflect who she is as a person. Standing at only 5'2", she doesn't command much attention, which is something that she would prefer. She is very much a wall-flower, she would much rather stay in the background and remain unassuming rather than be the center of attention. While she is often perceived as quiet and reserved, that only tends to be the case towards strangers. For those who give her the chance to open up, it truly is as if she breaks out of a shell. What people can say for sure about her, is that she is a determined young woman. She's hard headed and stubborn, traits that sometimes take people off guard because of how soft-spoken she usually is, but make no mistake. When she believes in something fervently or has made her mind up about something, there is little chance of making her budge in the matter. It can cause some issues when someone opposes her views, her pride gets in the way and she has a hard time admitting to others that she was wrong about things, which can sometimes cause a problem or two when the situation calls for it. Ellie is an ambitious, driven person but her capacity for caring for others is among the traits that Ellie herself recognizes as something that is a huge part of her. Her plans for the future (before becoming disrupted) was to continue on the long road of schooling that would result in her becoming a doctor. The appeal of caring for other people in a way that most other cannot was great in her eyes. She loves all people and often can't help the urge to help them in any way she can. BIOGRAPHY "Are you Ms. Marina Ivankova?" "I am." "Miss. I am so sorry to inform you, but there was a terrible accident." It was kind of funny how only a couple of words could completely ruin your life. Ellie was lucky to have been born in such a tight knit family. Two parents who loved each other, who were often at odds with one another, but in the end had each other's backs. An older sister that, despite the rather significant age gap between the two of you, always loved you and cared for you. It was kind of torn apart after that accident. Marina was the one who took care of you after that. You were only thirteen while she was twenty one. She was still at school though, and so you just went with her. You sold your childhood home (something that hurt so much) and simply moved to Cleveland, living in a small apartment as your sister finished her nursing degree. You continued on with your own schooling, high school began and you flew through it with flying colors. You were happy, you had an incredible group of friends who loved and supported you. You loved your teachers (admittedly, you were a bit of a suck up) and it seemed like you had everything you could have asked for in terms of both an academic life and a social one. Of course, life had a bit of a funny way of mucking all of that up for you. It didn't seem like you were even supposed to have anything resembling an easy life. "Hello, I'm calling from Fairview Hospital about Ms. Eleanora Ivankova's blood work. We're going to need for her to come in for further testing." Cancer. She had fucking cancer. Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. No matter how you said, it felt like it was a death sentence. You were seventeen years old and you had been given a death sentence. The doctor had tried to make you feel better. Told you that while they could have caught it earlier, it still wasn't too late for them to be able to give you the treatment that you needed to be able to get better. That there was a good outlook for patients who were as young as you. But you didn't want a good probability of living through this, you wanted certainty. You were seventeen years old. So close to graduating from high school, to going to college and maybe even med school after that. But all of that crashed at your feet with those three words. "You have cancer." All the symptoms started to make sense now. The weird bruising you'd find all over your body, but you had simply attributed it to your clumsiness. The fatigue that would wash over you often and at random times, despite having a full eight hours (sometimes more) of sleep every night. The weight loss. It all made sense and it was because of cancer. You couldn't help but just burst into tears right in front of that doctor, despite him being a stranger, despite your embarrassment to show emotion in front of people you didn't know, you sobbed your heart out right in that office. "Welcome home, El. I know it's not much, but-" "It's enough. It's what we need." "Fresh air and a change of scenery" was what the doctor advised. Cleveland wasn't exactly the epitome of clean air and low stress. Marina only took it as a challenge to find the most obscure town she could find. In rainy old, Washington it looked like Forks was the place that won the prize. She almost wanted to laugh, Forks, it even sounded like a town that belonged to the middle of no where. But even she had to admit that there was something nice about the rather isolated town. It was small, but the greenery, the natural life that surrounded it was comforting in a way. That, and the hospital located in the town would be where her sister would begin her work. And where she would receive her chemo. You hated the circumstances surrounding your move. You missed your friends, the people who had become your family. Marina, bless her soul, was doing everything she could, now being put into the roles of sister, mother and health caretaker. It was becoming overbearing, her over protectiveness, but you understood. You just hoped things would work out, if not for your own sake, then for hers. You were coming to terms with the fact that you didn't have forever. No one really ever did, you were just faced with the fact a little earlier than most others. But you knew Marina would try to deny that. You just wanted her to be okay. | ooc info ☆ NAME angie ☆ AGE 20 ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a ☆ TIMEZONE EST ☆ HOW DID YOU FIND US? advertisement on shine ☆ ANY OTHER INFO? i will probably say yes to literally any kind of plot you throw in my way, so hmu ;D ☆ SECRET PHRASE garden burger |
