It was the weekend and Ivy had nothing planner her brother was odd looking for more girls to win over or he was running with a pack. Ivy always felt to small next to them all but helped when she was called upon. However she wanted to get out of the house herself so she gathered a bag put a towel in and went to the kitchen to get snacks. Her grandmother was up and was making herself busy also. She always went to the shops on a saturday morning. Ivy smiled at her grandmother as she asked where her brother was. “Off doing his thing as normal nan, you know him he will be home when he is hungry.” Ivy walked across to her nan as she was leaving placing a kiss on her cheek and left for the beach.
The air was crisp and others would think it would be a tad to cold for the beach but with her body running at a higher temperature the shorts and tank top she had put on where plenty to keep her cool. She had packed a big oversized jumper for the way home as she had a feeling the weather would change. As she made her way to the beach it was only a short walk and it was a good way to clear her head. The past few months she has had a feeling of being watched she had mentioned it to her brother but he had shrugged it off to her. She found it a little creepy. Ivy looked over her shoulder as she made her way through the streets onto the path to the beach. Their was not a lot of people around for it still being only 10. She was surprised to be awake herself but with her brain being over active she could not sleep.
The air grew more salty as she made her way to the beach. You could taste it in the air. For once it was not raining but it was getting a little more cloudy in the short time she had been out of the house. Ivy had made quick work of getting to the beach and before she knew it she was their a short ten minute walk. Ivy got to the top of the little steps down to the beach a few fresh dog footprints accompanied by it's owner was all the marked the sand. With the gray water lapping at the shore it was rather peaceful. Ivy slipped off her sneakers and carried then down the the beach. One of her biggest pet peeves in life is sand in her shoes she hates it. Making her own tracks in the sand she walked mid way along the beach and laid her towel down pulled out a book and sat on the towle. He longed that she would be left alone or that not a lot would happen today she wanted to chill and have a drama free day.

▼ Saturday. Emily felt a rush of excitement take over - before letting it drop. She always loved the weekend, but back in Seattle there had been much more to do. These days she’d had to get inventive. Her parents had enrolled her into the high school on the res, but Emily wasn’t due to start until Monday so her mom had been forcing her to do some home-schooling in the mean time. Snore. Who thought being taught at home would be worse than actually going to school? But the weekend at least meant a break from that for both her and Elan. She rushed to shower and threw on a pair of skinny jeans, a white tee and her sneakers. Simple but effective. Grabbing her bag and cell, Emily headed down stairs. Her mom was up making breakfast, Elan was still in bed and her dad was out at work. “Hey mom, I’m headed out…going to try and find something to do here.” She grabbed a slice of toast and took off before her mom could say anything - surely she knew by now that the only way to keep Emily happy was to let her have her weekends and socialise…or at least try to. She stepped out into the fresh air and took a deep breath. It wasn’t sunny but it wasn’t totally freezing either for a change - it seemed unlikely that the sun would ever be seen again in this place but then Seattle hadn’t really been much different. Emily wandered down towards the town, stopping off at a small cafe on the way - coffee! It was much needed at this time in the morning and it would help see her through the day. Taking a sip, Emily smiled to herself. That was much better. As she wandered, Emily made a note of the small, quaint buildings that made up the homes and businesses of the local area - in fairness, La Push was quite pretty. It just lacked the friends Emily so desired, she wasn’t very good at being alone and her talents to make people laugh were being wasted. Completely wasted. Shaking her head, Emily headed toward the beach to see if there was anything much happening in that direction. From observation, it seemed that is where most kids her age headed to at the weekend. Reaching the beach, Emily slipped off her sneakers and made her way to the waters edge. She loved how the water felt against her skin, but it was definitely far too cold to go for a swim or anything. She took to walking along the waters edge up the beach, looking down at her feet as she did - the sand compressing under each step. It was sort of therapeutic. After a couple of minutes, Emily looked up and noticed a young girl sat on a towel ahead of her - she looked to be about Emily’s age…maybe a little older? As she approached Emily held her hand up and waved, she didn’t get too close incase the girl wanted to be left alone but she wasn’t going to let an opportunity to make a friend pass. “Hey, lovely day…don’t you think?”TAGGED Ivy Nym Adderson

Ivy was in a world of her own. The soft rustle of the leaves from the woods whenever the wind blow and lapping of the water on the shore made her little time alone relaxing and peaceful. It had not really gotten any warmer since she had found her place on the beach but there had not been anyone around. Unless people were of the shifter blood she could not see anyone coming out it was still a little cold in the air after all. Ivy was sat enjoying her book. It wasn't anything but for her to get lost in an imaginary world for a while. She liked a good science fiction book to get her brain thinking about anything else but her life at the moment. Ivy was brought out of her reading when she heard someone walking in the sand she glanced over the top of her paperback book to a girl walking in the water. She must be cold even for a shifter the water at this time of year was a little chilly. Though this girl did not go more than ankle deep, She watched for a second and went back to her reading.
Ivy was not like her brother talking to anything with breasts and legs. Or the male equivalent. She was not the one to usually start a conversation, she was too shy for that. Though she was also a bit worried that she would say the wrong thing people laugh at her for that but she can't help it her mouth opens half the time and verbal diarrhoea comes out before her brain has switched on. She managed to read another page before a voice brought her back out of her imagination and to the chilly beach of La push.
“Hey, lovely day…don’t you think?” The girl said to her. Ivy instantly smiled turning down the corner of her book to mark her place and closed the book. “It's still a little chilly but it will soon warm up.” Ivy mentioned back to her she was still a little way off and standing with the wind so she could not better check her out. Though she was not an enemy she could tell that much. Ivy was not the best with knowing everyone but with living within such a small community you got to know faces pretty quickly and she was definitely new here. “I hope you don't mind me stating but i haven't seen you around here before…...are you new to La Push?” She asked nicely, she could at least strike up a conversation with the only other person on the beach. The girl looked around her age. It would be nice to have a new friend and at least to warn her about her sleaze ball of a brother, He was harmless just liked the ladies.
Ivy noticed she was still sat down and thought it looked a little strange so she got up and instinctively swiped at her bum to get any stray sand particles off of her. The girl was taller than Ivy she noticed but then standing at only 5’4 most people were taller than her. She was slender to and a very pretty girl. “I’m Ivy by the way i go to the reserve school do you?” She asked with another smile on her face.

▼ Emily let the cool sea air rush over her, she was used to the cooler weather as long as it wasn’t pouring with rain. She figured being bought up in a state that doesn’t exactly see sunlight had forced her body to acclimatise - anything warmer than this would have her struggling. She kicked the water beneath her feet and felt herself relax - there had been a lot of tension following her since the move, but if she could let it go even just for 24 hours she would. Emily smiled in response - she’d been hoping the girl sat on the beach had been up for a quick chat, though she did feel bad for interrupting the girls reading. Emily nodded, it was a little chilly but things like that really didn’t bother her all that much. She wandered over to where the girl was sat - leaving a trail of footprints in the soft sand behind her. “I don’t think this place ever warms up if I’m honest,” she laughed - bringing the volume of her voice down the closer she got. “Is it that obvious?” Emily laughed, before nodding slightly, “yeah…my dad grew up here but our family moved away long before I was born…he’s going through a stage in his life where he felt the need to come back, I guess.” Was it a stage though? Or were they stuck here for good? Emily had no idea, but she did feel like her life was changing a little too fast for her liking. The girl stood up, she was a tiny little thing - petite frame, but beautiful features…pretty much like every human being Emily had come across here. Guys and girls alike all looked like they had come straight out of a magazine, it made her feel slightly inadequate. “Hey Ivy, I’m Emily…” she smiled - this girl seemed pretty easy going, perfect. Drama was not her style, so friends that were easy going and laid back were much better for her. “I’m enrolled to start on Monday, I’ve only been here a couple of weeks so just settling in,” Emily plonked herself onto the sand, indicating that Ivy was more than welcome to take her previous position back. “At least I’ll know someone there,” she smiled, glancing up out over the sea. “How long have you lived here?” Emily was curious how anyone had lasted longer than five minutes, and what exactly there was to do around here. Ivy new it was a small place so that was the main reason she looked out of place not the way she was acting. She smiled but she would not bring that up. She was rather impressed at how well she had been not to blurt that out as that is what normally happens. Ivy was growing or it may just be a fluke. She was going with the latter. Ivy did know she had grown into her looks even though she is still really short but she thought it looked cute. She could be feisty when she needed to be. The wind was still blowing gently but Ivy wished she had tied her hair up this morning as it was getting all messy and kept covering her face. She resorted to pulling it to the side and sort of holding playing with it. “It’s just a small place you tend to get used to the faces and i haven't seen you around so it was a shot in the dark.” She said a little chiper. She was happy she would see the girl at school. Though not so much as her brother would pester her to see who the new girl was. She did hate his smooth ways sometimes.
“You know you are so pretty i wish i was like you” It didn't last long all her brain power had failed her once again. Now the girl would either think she is hitting on her or a wired out of the blue compliment. Ivy looked confused and ashamed that her big mouth was going way with itself again. Ivy would have gone red if she could. She was embarrassed say the least she just sat with the girl that had recently told her , her name. Emily….. Nice and normal. She was normal or as far as ivy could smell at the last. “Yes a friendly face for you.” She said bringing her eyes back up to the girl and smiling. She hoped she didn't mind the strange comment. Or even think she was strange for it . Ivy thought for a moment on Emily's last question. “ Me and my twin brother moved here when we was 15, my dad works away a lot so we came to live with our grandparents, we have been here around 2 years now.” She said looking out at the sea slowly lapping the sand. “You get used to the quietness and the nothingness.” She said not really looking at the girl just making the comment out loud. “Though a lot of the local kids come hang out on the beach in the evenings on the weekend, you know typical teenage stuff happens,” She said looking back at Emily. She did not know if she was one of those girls to be in with the cool crowd.

O f course, it was a small town…she was bound to stand out like a sore thumb in these parts. Though she thought she’d blend in on the res…perhaps not. Still, blending in would have been easier but Emily figured she was going to have to get used to being the new girl. Great. Answering the same questions over the next couple of months was going to get real boring real quick. Lucky for Ivy…she was the first, so Emily didn’t feel too put out. “Here was me thinking no one would notice the new girl in town,” she smiled, it would be intriguing to find out how many people did notice her, and how many would approach her. She was quite approachable - so here was hoping that she’d have a group of friends in no time at all. Glancing over at Ivy, Emily laughed a little. “What? I’m a mess this morning…!” Where on earth had that come from? Ivy was pretty - traditionally so. Emily didn’t have that working for her, she just went with what the day gave her and hoped for the best. Her hair usually had a mind of it’s own - and make-up depended on her mood. The only thing she could control was her style, she'd always had an eye for fashion, something her friends had loved about her. Throwing an outfit together that looked effortlessly chic was second nature to her. “It’s all a mask,” she grinned, her usual go-to when it came to these things. Emily had never been great at taking a compliment. “So I’m taking over your position as the new girl, how do you feel about that?” She grinned, at least it was nice to meet someone who’d come from the outside, maybe Ivy would help Emily find her feet in this place. “I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to the quiet, I’m quite a loud person in generally.” Emily was loud, but in a good way. She loved to laugh, have fun and make the most of everyday. It was when she was quiet her demons crept up on her. “That sounds like fun! Do you go out with them?” Emily didn’t want to just assume Ivy could introduce her - she didn’t want to put her foot in it. She was a sweet girl, someone Emily could easily call a friend, she already felt a sense of loyalty to her. “I mean, would you mind if I kinda, hung around with you? I don’t really know anyone else here so…” it would be easier, drama free if Emily stuck with nice people. Plus her mom would definitely approve of someone like Ivy over her friends from Seattle.

Ivy did not mean to make it so oviouse to the girl that it was such a small place. She looked like an outsider just with the way she was dressed. Ivy looked away when she said she was a mess. Why did every girl say that. But she had looked at herself in the mirror in the morning she really was a sight. Here hair must have a mind of it's own when she goes to sleep that or she wriggles like she had ants in her pants all night. A huge grin crossed her face when she said about the new girl. People at school would see it that way as at school she is still the new girl the aquwared loner that sits at the tables and only gets invited to things through the pack of which she is one of the only girls, Which then leads to jealous glances or they are wanting her brother. “You will be, but it doesn't bother me either way, it may stop a few sideways glances and whispers.” She said and she shifted her weight as one of her legs was falling to sleep. The wind was picking up and playing with Ivy's hair. So instead of trying to tame it she started braiding her hair into a fish tail plat. So much easier to talk without eating her hair and to see the girl in front of her. She wondered how cold it was today as she ran hotter then normal girls but Emily looked to wear summery clothes also.
Ivy looked a bit shocked when Emily was all for the parties, yes they where fun but Ivy was always either busy or her brother would ruin them for her by embarrassing her. “I go to most of them, but i hardly ever stay long……” Ivy chewed her lip she did not want this girl to think she was a social reject and stop talking to her , by just being around her Ivy felt a scenes of friendship. Ivy knew of a party the pack leader Jake was putting on at the weekend. “There's a big one coming up at the weekend hosted by my friends, their a bit….boisterous but it's always a laugh” She said with a little more confidence. Ivy glanced around at the edge of the woods. Then back to Emily, she wanted to find out more about her like her life before this sleep village. “So before you came here what was you life like?” She asked hoping she would not be offended and happily talk about it to Ivy.

E mily laughed a little, this girl needed to unwind a bit. Perhaps she was more in need of a friend than Emily was. “I take it the girls at school aren’t the easiest to fit in with…” Ivy herself seemed sweet but she also seemed reserved. It was bugging her a bit, like there was something Ivy wasn’t saying…holding back a bit perhaps. “Hey, I’d be happy to take on the sideways glances and whispers, LET THEM TALK!” Emily grinned, she didn’t care what people said about her - so what if she was a little different, it usually meant she made friends a lot easier. People seemed drawn to her joker, outrageous type of behaviour. She was always the class clown - the one people laughed with instead of at. Oh cool, so this town did have parties going on. That was decent at least. Emily frowned at her, it was strange…she wanted to help Ivy become a bit more out there, or at least help her fit in a bit more. “Why not? It’s because I’ve not been around isn’t it?” Emily laughed, “I’m the life and soul, without me, things are just boring.” She nudged Ivy and winked, things would change a little that’s for sure. All this girl needed was a little bit of friend time, someone who didn’t judge her or talk about her it seemed. Not that Emily had many friends either, in fact she hated being alone more than anything. It made her anxious and overthink, and that is when her demons came out to play. “Alright, that sounds more like it…you mind if I tag along?” Emily needed to get to know more people here, it was beginning to feel a bit dry and a bit lonely. She hadn’t heard from her friends back in Seattle since the move, so realistically she’d written them all off as has-beens. “Well, I came from Seattle so there was a little more to do there, I had friends but they’ve disappeared since the move…so I guess you can’t really call them friends.” She shrugged, who cared about those losers anyway, it wasn’t like they were going to stick together after school finished anyway. “Let’s just say I’m used to things being a little livelier, I haven’t found my place here yet..” it sounded sad, but she didn’t really mind. She found it easier to start a-fresh anyway. “So when’s this party?” Emily glanced over at Ivy and smiled, it was a lot easier than the drama filled friends she’d previously had.

Ivy smiled at the girl she did not know why she did not fit in with all the girls it may be because of the pack and the teasing she gets from her brother making her self esteem a bit low but this girl made her smile. So she would hold on to her as long as she could. Was that creepy yes but if she made Ivy feel like a normal girl for the first time in a long time and get interested in normal teen things again, she would hold on and hold on well. Her mind whenever not at school was always on the vampires and what was in store for them.
“Don’t get me wrong i would love to let my hair down, i just have a few family ties that always pulls me out of them” She said softly. It wasn't the whole truth but it was the best she could say without giving too much away. This girl seemed like fun and that was what Ivy hoped for. She seemed like she would be dragging Ivy along to everything but that was fine by her. She did not mind as long as she didn't have to do a disappearing act on her for Pack problems. A big gust of wind rolled over the shore and even Ivy shivered at that. “Nothing like this weather” She laughed. Ivy looked at Emily and smiled “Course you can it's open to anyone that lives here teen wise, some people from Forks may come too”
Ivy bit her lip as she heard about Emily losing her friends. She had felt the same when moving here. “I know how it is you have them your whole life and as soon as you're gone five minutes they don't want to know you.” When she asked the day Ivy had to think she could not remember if it was friday or Saturday. Her mind was blank “Let me just check i think it's friday….” She said as she pulled out her phone and tried looking for the text from Jake about the party. But in her panic and frustration to keep it cool around Emily. She just sent a quick text asking again. Within moments of her sending it she had gotten a reply that was fast. “Friday” Ivy finally said. She didn't know what type of scene Emily would be used to and if she would you know dress up all fancy. It was not like that here comfee wear clothes with a bit of something. Anything more and she would be talked about. “The boys will probably build a big fire but it's gonna be cold so bring something to keep you warm” She knew Emily wouldn't be stupid or daft, but she didn't want her turning up in a little mini dress after all she would care what people said about her.
Ivy hated the whispering the most but then she got that from her brother been so out there and people not believing they are twins. “My brother will probably be their and this week at school you will most likely meet everyone that will turn up.” She mentioned.”It's what sucks about being a small place knowing everyone and them knowing everything about you.” Ivy swore the parents were worse at it then the teens half the time. She found herself babbling so looked down and played with her towel she was sat on she talked a load of waffle half the time.

I t was always hard to be the new girl, Emily had remembered the new girls that started school midway through the year back in Seattle - she’d done everything she could to make them feel welcome, but not everyone was like that. Still, it was easier to shrug off the haters and let them talk over letting it get to you. Emily turned to look at Ivy and smiled “well, it’s about time we change that - family is great but you need to be young whilst you can,” she sounded like some wise old owl…when really she was younger than Ivy. But Emily had learnt how to have fun and make the most of being a teenager - and now wasn’t the time to be passing it up. “Awesome, so party it is…” Emily grinned, letting her loose curls flutter around in the wind that was blowing off the ocean. It was cooler here, but she was used to Seattle weather so it really didn’t bother her all that much. She didn’t know what ‘warm’ felt like as such. As Ivy checked through her phone, Emily wondered what kind of kids would be hanging around? Would they all be quiet like Ivy, or a bit more on the loud side? “Friday is perfect, so who should be there? I wanna get names, and then freak them all out like crazy…” it was her prankster side that came out the most at these things, especially with people she didn’t know. But she wasn’t about to go to a party unprepared - knowing names was vital, that way she could integrate better into the group…with Ivy’s help of course. She nodded, something warm would be a definite here. She might be a little strange, but Emily sure as hell wasn’t that crazy. So Ivy had a brother - just like Emily. Though she could bet her right arm that Ivy’s brother was not half as annoying as hers. “How old? I have a younger brother…little twerp he is.” A smile spread across her face, he would hate missing out on a party, but Emily was in no state to bring him along this time. Not until she fully knew who it was she was going to be hanging out with, plus her mom would totally freak out if she took him anywhere near a bunch of strangers. He was, after all, her special little boy. Ugh, it made Emily want to gag. He would grow out of it one day. She nodded at Ivy’s comment, “true, news travels fast around here too huh?” Like any small town, the betting was half of the kids at the high school knew Emily would be there on Monday already.
